We have a lot of exiting things
going on!!!
This winter/spring we have been busy
doing important refurbishments at The Ritz Hotel…as
follow is what we have been able to achieve.
More to come in 2008!!!
Rooms
The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors have
been renovated the following way:
• Black tiles in the bathroom • Shower screen
by the bath • Blue Perspex by front section of the
bath with light at the back • New bathroom curtains
• New carpets in the rooms • The furniture and
 curtains
from the 15, 14 and 13th floors have been transferred to
the 2, 3 and 4th floors • Pictures from 15, 14 and
13th floor in the 2, 3 and 4th floor • All walls and
cupboard's were painted • New duvets, scattered cushions
and throws.
The 13th, 14th, and 15th Floors have
been renovated the following way:
• New curtains in the rooms • New furniture
in the rooms • All rooms have new duvets (white),
scattered cushions and throws • New paintings in all
the rooms
• All rooms have been painted
The 20th floor has been renovated the following way:
• New cupboards in all the rooms • New curtains
in all the rooms • All beds new have duvets (white),
scatted cushions and throws • New carpets where needed
• Shower screens in all the bathrooms • All
rooms painted have been painted.
The 19th, 18th, 17th and 16th floors will have new curtains,
duvets (white), throws and scattered cushions by the end
of November.
Restaurant
1st floor restaurant, lounge and bar
areas
The whole restaurant and the lounge area have been tiled
• The restaurant has a new buffet area with modern
wood finishes • New tables have been placed in the
restaurant • We now have an Ice cream fridge at the
buffet area for our Guests’ satisfaction • The
whole 1st floor has been painted in dark grey and all the
plugs have been replaced • The lounge area has new
leather chairs and the couches have been re-upholstered
• The bar area has been refurbished as well.
A coffee/cappuccino bar will be build into the area with
nice soft beautiful lounge couches for the Guest relaxation.
The Foyer
The foyer has been being painted •
Two Flat-screen TV have been installed; one to show news
related to the area and the other to play Sky News •
The reception’ desk has a new look • Along the
lobby area any section with carpet has been replaced with
black slate tiles. All the pot plants and plants have been
replaced.
Other areas
• Blinds were put in on the
bridge towards to conference rooms for more warmth.
• All fire escapes have been painted and a blue florescent
light been put in. In the evening you can see the blue light
all the way from top to the bottom, quite a nice effect.
• The corridors of all the floors have also been painted
in the same colour as the dark colour in the rooms and the
colour of the foyer.
• We have started with the renovation of the Executive
Lounge. Tiles have been put down and a plasma screen has
been ordered. The area will be expanded and will have a
section with computers with internet facilities.

New Foyer:
Our lobby has been redecorated; new
furniture and decoration have been placed in order to make
the space more cosy and modern.
New Carpets:
We have
changed the carpets in all the rooms and the common areas
Elevators:
The wallpaper of the elevators have been replaced
Rooms: All
the rooms have new white duvets which our clients love and
give a brighter and more ..appealing look to the rooms.
As well, safe security boxes have been installed in all
the rooms. |

Restaurant:
The restaurant is been refurbished as follow and will be
ready before the end of November:
Complete tiling of the area • New fabric and foam
for banquette section • Painting of area
• Re-upholstery of chairs.
Swimming Pool:
The swimming pool is been painted/resurfaced
and should be ready before the end of November.
Rooms: We
are busy converting more rooms into "White Duvets Rooms"
The third floor is complete and the second floor should
be completed by end November (91 rooms will be done by then).
Food & Beverage:
Instead of the tradition al Carvery
Buffet the Hotel now also offers a Poolside Ostrich Steak
Braai as an alternative -Weather permitting-! Included in
the braai menu: Salads, home baked bread, Pap and Sauce,
Lamb chops, Boerewors, Chicken Sosaties and lots more.
A new wine list has been introduced and wine tasting is
done 3 times a month on a Monday evening (can be arranged
on request on other days). This is done on the patio or
in the restaurant prior to dinner service. There is no additional
cost.
A local after dinner liqueur menu has been introduced -translated
in German as well- served and presented at the table. Liqueurs
include: Witblits, Mampoer, Amarula, etc.
A local Indian Chef will be preparing our Indian meals on
the property the traditional way. Menus available on request.
Parking and common areas:
The parking lot has been painted; new plants and flowers
were planted in our massive parking and swimming pool areas.
Spa: FYI
all our clients staying at the hotel are entitled to a special
discount whenever they use our spa facilities. Please contact
us for specific hotel packages including spa.
A new wine list has been introduced and wine tasting is

Common Areas:
The Second
floor passage has been redone with tiles next to the sides
and carpet running in the middle.
Rooms: - At the Second
floor the curtains have been replaced and all the rooms
have got a soft upgrade which includes new white duvets.
This year we ran a winter maintenance program (10 rooms)
at a time painting, grouting and rounding off the rooms.
At this stage the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor rooms are completed.
Additional Services:
We have recently opened our business
centre with internet access.
WiFi access is available on the 2nd and 3rd floors, all
public areas, restaurant, bar and swimming pool areas.

Pine Lakes continues to be one of
our nicest properties; a cosy hotel with great location
and surrounded by beautiful gardens.
Restaurant:
Our main restaurant has been extended
by a 40% which allow us to offer a better and most efficient
service to our clients. The new restaurant capacity is 150
seats.
Rooms: A
new block of rooms was added a couple of seasons ago; the
new rooms look great, very modern and as the rest of the
hotel, the African motives in the decoration add a great
touch to the place.
Conference facilities:
A new conference room has been done,
so we now have a total of three conference rooms with capacity
for 100, 50 and 40 delegates.
Informal Golf:
Do not forget or 9 holes golf course,
located in our property pool areas.

We are constantly updating our rooms in order to meet our
client’s standards:
165 rooms made up from: 2 Suites; 50 Single rooms with 1
Double bed; 50 Double rooms with 2 beds; 63 King Leisure
rooms with 1 King bed.
In 2006: We
replaced 65 double beds and the bed spreads (the rest of
the rooms were updated during 2005/06)
In 2007: We
have replaced the bed spreads and curtains of 14 double
beds, 40 double rooms will be replaced and the laundry equipment
was updated.

The hotel sets in the southern part of Mpumalanga, strides
the gateway to the fascinating Kingdom of Swaziland, just

There have been a lot of changes,
for good, at Harrismith which help us to maintain our place
in the market and to increase our service levels:
Last season 80 rooms
were refurbished with new bed spreads
and matching curtains. (Lovely)
All foyer, restaurant and bar have been re-varnished.
All exterior of hotel have been repainted.
The Corridor has been repainted.
A New carpet for ground floor corridor to be put within
this year.
In prevision for next year: To change the carpets of 80
rooms.
New Exterior Display pots at the foyer entrance.
New a/c and ceiling for main conference room to be done
this year. |
